Risk management: a more mindful approach

Mindfulness can help lawyers deal with high levels of stress and there is no doubt that working in stressful environments can lead to oversights, complaints and claims.

We’ll examine some strategies that improve our listening skills and lead to preparing for having difficult conversations. We will also explore ideas on how to integrate Mindfulness back at the office (or home office) and how to improve focus to improve performance.

This session is for those new to Mindfulness as well as those with an existing practice, to examine how Mindfulness in the legal office can improve risk management.  

About Cathryn Urquhart

Cathryn is a lawyer by training who has worked in large commercial law firms - mainly in insurance litigation. She has also been in-house as a claims solicitor at Law Mutual (WA) where she managed claims made against lawyers and presented Risk Management.

More recently, Cathryn has set up her own training business and also is an Adjunct at the College of Law where she facilities the Legal Practice Management Course.

Cathryn is a Certified Teacher of the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Course: Born at Google, based in science/emotional intelligence/mindfulness. She is passionate about bringing Mindfulness to the legal and other professions in Australia.
