Reducing Risk with Reliable Research

Join Laurie Atkinson and Renée Naylor from the Supreme Court Library (Law Library Victoria) as they discuss how practitioners can strengthen their research skills using trusted tools, effective verification techniques, and improved digital literacy. Drawing on extensive front-line experience, Laurie and Renée will share practical insights into supporting complex research tasks and navigating the growing use of AI in legal research.

Description

Legal research is one of the most powerful, yet overlooked, risk controls available to solicitors. In an environment where incorrect citations, out-of-date authorities and unverified AI outputs are increasingly leading to errors, developing strong research capability is essential to delivering accurate, defensible legal advice and submissions.

In this webinar, we explore how practitioners can strengthen their research practices by using trusted tools, applying verification techniques, and building digital literacy skills that take advantage of the emerging technologies. Our guests from the Supreme Court Library (Law Library Victoria), will share insights drawn from front-line experience assisting practitioners with complex research tasks and responding to the rise of AI-assisted research.

Join LPLC Risk Manager Dr Fabian Horton, together with Laurie Atkinson and Renée Naylor from the Supreme Court Library (Law Library Victoria), as they discuss practical strategies for reducing research-related risk, improving the reliability of information relied upon in your matters, and knowing when to seek expert assistance.
